The unemployment rate in Jim Wells County continues to plummet.

According to the April statistics recently released by the Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend, unemployment in Jim Wells County stands at 5 percent. Thatís a drop of 1.5 percent from 2011.

Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend officials said the ongoing drop in unemployment can be credited back to work generated by the Eagle Ford Shale production. The 12-county region served by Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend logged a 5.9 percent jobless rate. That entire region benefits from work generated by the Eagle Ford Shale and other industries tied to it.

For the first time in three years, unemployment fell in every county, officials said.
