PREMONT - A woman was arrested Tuesday by Premont police in connection with a shoplifting incident at the local dollar store.

Police were called to the store and spoke with the reporting party. The suspect, later identified as 37-year-old Savannah Dawn Robinson, had left the premises. Premont officers with the assistance of the Jim Wells County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop with a silver Honda Accord on the 200 block of NW 3rd Street.

Through the course of the roadside interview, Robinson admitted to stealing three bottles of motor oil, said Premont Police Chief Richard Nava.

While running a check on Robinson, dispatch advised the officers that Robinson was wanted out of Nueces County for probation violation on a larceny charge, Nava said.

Robinson was placed under arrest and transported to the JWC jail and awaits to be transferred to Nueces County.
