$40,000 found hidden in vehicle during traffic stop.

Nine packages wrapped in duct tape were confiscated during a traffic stop on Friday, Aug. 28, by the Jim Wells County Interdiction Team.

The team conducted a traffic stop on U.S. Hwy 281 south of Farm-to-Market 2295. After consent to search the vehicle was granted by the driver, whose name has not been released, officers located the packages concealed within the vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office.

A narcotics K-9 was deployed and gave a positive response to the odor of narcotics. After unwrapping the package, deputies found United States currency in the amount of $40,000.

The driver was arrested and charged with money laundering.
