Couple attacked by bees

Bees attack couple on Chapparral Street of South Reynolds.

A couple is doing okay after they were stung by hundreds of bees on Friday, May 29 on the 400 block of Chapparral Street off of South Reynolds Street.

According to Alice Interim Police Chief Davis, a man was getting the grass at his residence when he and a woman were attacked by the bees. The bees came from the attack of a nearby abandoned home.

Officers responded to the area and observed a woman on the road with bees flying around. An officer attempted to help, but were stung. The officer seeked cover from the bees in another police unit, but the bees followed him into the unit. The two officers in the unit were stung.

The fire department rushed to the scene and sprayed the area.

The couple was sent to the hospital and the officers refused medical attention.
