Sheriff Departments confirm employees are positive for COVID-19
Duval County Sheriff Romeo Ramirez and Jim Wells County Sheriff Daniel Bueno confirmed that they have employees who have been affected by cornavirus (COVID-19).
Sheriff Ramirez released a message via Facebook that confirmed four of the sheriff’s department tested positive for COVID-19. He than updated the Alice Echo - News Journal on a fifth employee.
"Good afternoon citizens of Duval County. The Duval Sheriff’s Office has had five confirmed cases regarding COVID-19. The departments affected and confirmed within the office are two deputies, one administrator, one communications operator and one correctional officer. We believe these Positive cases are travel related,“ Sheriff Ramirez said.
Sheriff Ramirez wants to assure the citizens that his department has taken all the necessary precautions in relation to testing as well as mandatory self quarantine.
Sheriff Daniel Bueno wanted the public to know that one of his deputies tested positive for the virus. The deputy is in quarantine and isolated.
“We need to keep everyone safe from the citizens of JWC, and those passing through, from such an unpredictable virus,” Sheriff Bueno said.
All precautions are being taken by the jail administrations to deal with COVID-19 by following CDC guidelines.
