The City of Benavides joined with surrounding areas and mandated the use for facial coverings for city businesses and all their employees, as well as entering customers to slow the spread of COVID-19, effective 12:00 a.m. on June, 27.

The order states, While Governor Abbott has restricted local mandates of any kind of facial coverings on residents of Texas, he said this does not apply to businesses.

Failure to apply could result in a fine up to $1,000.

City officials urge residents to stay home if possible, wash their hands and social distance.
