New case of COVID-19 reported in JWC, total at 22
A woman in her 30’s is the newest case of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Jim Wells County, according to JWC judge Juan Rodriguez. THe judge was notified of the newest case on Friday.
This case brings the total number of reported cases in JWC to 22.
The patients are currently isolated. DSHS is supporting JWC in identifying any close contacts of the patient so they can be isolated and monitored for symptoms.
The DSHS Public Health Region 11 is reminding the public that it is conducting contact investigation on persons who have tested positive to determine possible exposure to others. If the health department has not contacted you, there is no need to take any action at this time.
JWC Judge Juan Rodriguez is working with DSHS on updating all numbers in the county for active and recovered cases. Rodriguez, continues to urge everyone to practice social distancing, wearing masks and the CDC precautionary guidelines.
Rodriguez and City of Alice Mayor Jolene Vanover encourage all JWC residents who have traveled to any hot spots such as Houston and Galveston to self-quarantine for up to 14 days due to the high number of cases in those area.
