Two Jim Wells County officials and two City of Alice officials are under self-quarantine after one of the men had a family member test positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).

Jim Wells County Judge Juan Rodriguez confirmed Wednesday that he, Jim Wells County Commissioner Precinct 4 Wicho Gonzalez, Alice City Councilman Ron Burke and Larry Martinez, the executive director of the Alice, Jim Wells County Economic Development Corporation decided to place themselves under self-quarantine.

On Tuesday, Judge Rodriguez received notice that three new people had tested positive for COVID-19. One of those individuals was a 50-year-old woman who is related to Martinez and who may have been in contact with each other, according to sources.

Because of the positive result and the fact that the four men had recently been on a business trip together each of the men are taking precautions until they get the test results. Results can take up to 72 hours.
