JWC reports three more cases of COVID-19

As of 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jim Wells County reported that they received confirmation from the Texas Department of Health and Human Services about three additional cases of coronavirus (COVID-19).

These cases increases the total of cases reported in the county to 12.

New cases are:

* a man in his 40s

* a man in his 60s

* a female in her 50s

According to the press release from the Texas Department of Health and Human Services, the three individuals were in contact with an individual who tested positive for COVID-19.

Total reported in JWC - 12

Total recovered in JWC - 9

Total active cases - 3

The public is asked to continue to follow CDC guidelines like washing hands and social distancing.

Alice Independent School District also released a statement Tuesday that stated one of their staff members from Dubose Intermediate was given a positive COVID-19 case result.

At this time, officials can’t confirm if the Alice ISD employee is one of the new cases in JWC.

The district’s press release states that they have “over 700” employees “who live across the Coastal Bend Area.”

Dubose Intermediate has been closed and the curbside pickup was moved to William Adams Middle School. Other employees will be tested.
