Woman steals lawn equipment
A woman was arrested Wednesday after she was seen walking into a home on Hill Street and taking a weed eater. Police were called to the home and spoke with the homeowner and his son. The homeowner was able to follow the woman later identified as Jessica Trevino. Trevino was found at her mother's residence and was taken to the Jim Wells County jail. She was charged with burglary of a habitation.
Argument over phone messages send man to jail
Police were dispatched to an apartment on the 2000 block of South Cameron Street in reference to a disturbance. When Officers Nick Reyes and Zachary Jaramillo arrived they at the apartment they heard a woman yelling for help. They entered the apartment to find Gilberto Gonzalez Jr. standing over the woman. Gonzalez was commanded to back away from the victim and put his hands behind his back. He failed to obey the officers commands and began to walk towards the officers. Officers tased Gonzalez after he repeatedly disobeyed their commands. Gonzalez told officers that he had given the victim money to purchase a phone, but became angry and wanted his money back when he learned that she was messaging other men. Gonzalez was taken to the JWC jail. He was charged with assault impede breath and three Duval County warrants.
Possession of marijuana
Homer Esquivel Jr. was arrested on Thursday, Sept. 24 after a traffic stop on the 1700 block of South Highway 281 for an expired registration. Officer Herman Arellano made contact with the driver and Esquivel. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a freshly burned marijuana cigarette and a baggie of marijuana. Esquivel was detained and booked at the JWC jail.
