There is a citywide pep rally at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Alice Lady Coyote Softball Complex in honor of the Lady Coyotes' historic run in the state playoffs.

City workers erected a banner in the team's honor in downtown Alice.

After eliminating state-ranked Tuloso-Midway Saturday at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, the Alice girls are off to San Antonio for a best-of-three playoff series against Smithson Valley in the regional semifinal round of the Class 4A playoffs.

The series begins with Game 1 at 7 p.m. Friday. Game 2 is at 2 p.m. Saturday. Game 2 was originally set for 5 p.m. Saturday, but was moved up because of a conflict.

Game 3, if needed, will follow Game 2.

Alice advanced by sweeping Tuloso-Midway Friday and Saturday at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Smithson Valley advanced by beating Lockhart is a one-game playoff, 5-4.

The San Antonio ISD Sports Complex is adjacent to Burbank High School at 1000 Edwards Street.
