BEN BOLT - The Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco Badgers won 11-of-12 games in District 32-A.

They’ll have to win one more to earn the first-round playoff game which comes with being the district champion.

The Badgers are playing the Benavides Eagles in a 32-A district playoff game to determine which team enters the postseason in first and who goes in as the runner-up.

The one-game playoff is at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fairgrounds Field in Robstown.

The teams are district co-champions, but the winner of Saturday’s game has a bye before playing the winner of the La Pryor and El Dorado bi-district series. The loser of the game between the Badgers and Eagles is playing Kenedy in the first round of the playoffs.

The district playoff comes after Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco and Benavides finished the district season with identical 11-1 records.

The teams split their district match-up. The Eagles won the first meeting, 9-0, while the Badgers won the second game, 18-6.

Since losing to Benavides on March 22, Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco won eight-straight, including six district games.

In their last game Thursday, the Badgers scored 15 runs in the second inning to beat the Agua Dulce Longhorns, 19-0. Pitcher Gilbert Garcia was given the win.

He gave up one hit and three walks, while striking out nine.
