The Corpus Christi Moody Lady Trojans are Class 4A’s fourth-ranked.

They looked better than that Friday night. In just five innings, the Lady Trojans amassed 16 hits, including five home runs, to beat the Alice Lady Coyotes, 13-0.

The loss ends the Lady Coyotes’ win-streak at three. They dropped to 3-4 in District 31-4A. Moody remained unbeaten at the top of the district standings.

It didn’t take the Lady Trojans long to get going Friday night.

They began the first by loading the bases and then Mariena Gallardo cleared them with one swing of the bat. The grandslam led to a five-run first inning.

Gallardo and Renae Palacios had a pair of homers each. Jessica Resendez also had a home run.

The loss was dramatically different from their first meeting when Moody slowly chipped away and took advantage of seven errors to win, 4-0.

Alice is at home against Tuesday against Flour Bluff. Game time is 7 p.m. They then play on the road against Tuloso-Midway Friday night.
