The Alice Coyotes’ final district game against Class 3A-bound Robstown Cottonpickers was one for the program’s history books.

Alice crushed the Cottonpickers, 14-4, and clinched a District 31-4A playoff spot. It was the team’s largest margin of victory in a district game this season.

The Coyotes wasted little time establishing the momentum in Friday’s game by scoring seven runs in the bottom of the first inning. Alice went on and scored a run in the next three innings before scoring two in the fifth and two more in the sixth.

Alice finished the game with 14 hits.

Junior outfielder Justin Guerrero led the way for Alice going 4-for-4 with 5 RBIs. Zach Garza, R.J. Gomez and Allen Rios went 2-for-3. Henry Hill went 2-for-4 with two?RBIs.

With two games remaining in the regular season, the Alice Coyotes improved to 6-2 in 31-4A. They are alone in second place behind first-place and state-ranked Calallen. Alice faces Calallen on the road Tuesday night before closing out the regular season Friday here against Tuloso-Midway.
