San Diegoís Lindsey Bernal knocked in the tying run and then scored the game winner to beat the Banquete Lady Bulldogs, 6-4, in eight innings Friday night.

The win keeps the Lady Vaqueros in second place in the District 31-2A standings heading into their showdown against first-place Refugio Tuesday. The Lady Vaqueros are 21-5 for the season and 7-1 in district. San Diego was leading 4-2, but Banquete tied the game in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Lady Vaqueros scored two more in the top of the eighth and held on to win the district match-up. Bernal ended the game 1-for-2 with an RBI.

Lea Valerio was 2-for-3. Syndey Ramirez was 1-for-3 and Marissa Trevino was 1-for-4. Both girls had RBIs.

Sirena Martinez started on the mound, but was replaced by Gabby Gonzalez after she was hit by a line-drive early in the ball game. Gonzalez was given† the win.

Through five innings, she struck out seven while giving up seven hits and three walks. Gonzalezís record improved to 7-1 in district and 16-3 for the season.
