CALALLEN?— The Alice Coyotes left the District 31-4A track and field meet with a handful of gold medals and a third place team finish.
Junior Richard Davis won gold in the 110 hurdles and Ryan Cadena won gold in the 800-meter run.
The Alice boys also had several second place points. Danny Espinoza was second in the 100, Cadena was second in the 400, Michael Joiner was second in the 1,600-meter run, Andrew Munoz was second in the 800 and Mark Garcia was second in the 300-meter hurdles. The Coyotes were also second in the 400 and 1,600-meter relays and fourth in the 800 relay.
Jacob De La Cruz was third in the 400 and Andrew Munoz and Miguel Zarate were third and fourth in the 800. Munoz was fourth in the 1,600-meter run and Zarate was fifth. Ben Cavazos took sixth in the 200.
In the field events, Ivan Hernandez was third and Brian Heras was sixth in the discus.
The Lady Coyotes were fourth in the girls’ division behind second-place finishes in each of the relays. Alice won silver medals in the 400, 800 and 1,600-meter relays.
Individually, sophomore Felisha Salinas was second in the 300-meter hurdles and Anne Marie Kuhlman took third in the discus. Marisa Acosta placed third in the 800-meter dash and Selina Heuston was fourth in the triple jump. Cassandra Garcia won points for Alice by taking fifth in the 100-meters dash and sixth in the pole vault.
Analicia Banales placed fifth in the 400 and Elishya Barrientes was sixth in the 800.
