After the first quarter of Friday's game, the Lady Coyotes were on pace to score more than 100.

They eased up as the game wore on, but their effort was still enough for a 76-46 blowout of the Laredo LBJ Lady Wolves Friday night.

Alice maintained its lead in 31-4A and improved its district mark to 9-0. The Lady Coyotes are 21-9 for the season. With an eye on repeating as district champions, the Lady Coyotes travel to Tuloso-Midway Tuesday.

The Lady Coyotes scored 26 points in the opening period. It was a shoot-out with the Lady Wolves, who managed 14 first period points of their own. Alice senior Chelsea Arredondo, who finished with a game-high 19 points, scored 10 point in the first quarter. She went on to scored nine in the second and helped Alice to a 47-23 halftime lead.

Kaliegh McKelvey scored six in the first period and eight in the third and finished the game 16 points. Mariah Mandel scored 13.

The Lady Wolves made up some ground late in the game, mostly because of the play of Krystal DeLeon, who scored nine in the third and eight in the fourth. She finished the night with 24.


Laredo LBJ 72, Alice 46

The Alice Coyotes lost a dogfight against the Wolves from LBJ Friday night in Laredo.

With the 72-46 loss, the Coyotes fell to 3-4 in District 31-4A.

Joey Medellin and Michael Johnson paced the Coyotes with 12 points each. Javier Castillo scored eight and Robert Castillo scored six.

The Alice boys travel to Tuloso-Midway Tuesday night.
