St. Elizabeth Catholic School hosted its fifth annual 5K Glow Run on Friday, March 6. The school holds the record for the largest 5k participation in Alice. This year they had over 1,000 people at the Anderson Park for the event.

St. Elizabeth Catholic School 5K Glow Run is one of the highly anticipated events and fundraisers to help support Catholic Education in the school. The community of Alice also supports the event with sponsorships and lighting a stretch of the three-mile course with glowing lights. The three-mile course is also interactive with music from area DJ’s and a local school mariachi group. Students along with their parents decorate a tree along the path to represent their grade level with lights and signs.

Awards are given in different age group divisions for the top three runners. The 5K Glow Run started as a fun family event to support the student’s participation in the 100 Mile Club program. Students add on to their miles at the annual Glow Run.

If you would like to participate or sponsor next year’s 5K, please contact St. Elizabeth Catholic School at 361-664-6481. The school would like to have more “glowing” participation.
