The Alice Lady Coyotes put two exclamation points on their win against the Laredo Martin Lady Tigers Tuesday.

Among Alice’s 18 hits were two home runs by Kayla Escobar and Kayla Hernandez. The big hits helped seal the deal and carried the Lady Coyotes to a 13-3 victory in five innings.

The win keeps Alice in the thick of things in District 29-5A. The Lady Coyotes are 2-4 in district and in fifth place in the 29-5A standings.

The Lady Coyotes have another district game Friday when they host Tuloso-Midway. Game time is 5 p.m.

The home runs were the first of the season for Escobar and Hernandez. They highlighted an offensive explosion by the Lady Coyotes.

Sam Hinojosa led Alice going 4-for-4 with an RBI. Escobar was 3-for-4 with four RBIs. Meaghan Molina, Sarina Cantu and Maylynn Saenz were each 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Hailey Garza was 2-for-4. Hernandez was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and Mia Longoria was 1-for-2.

Layla Rodriguez was given the win for Alice. She finished the game with six strikeouts.
