CORPUS CHRISTI — The Alice Lady Coyotes led the Tuloso-Midway Cherokees for the first inning Tuesday night. The rest of the game went completely the Cherokees' way.

The Cherokees scored 12 unanswered runs after the first inning to beat the Lady Coyotes, 12-1, in five innings in the District 29-5A season opener.

Tuloso-Midway scored its 12 runs off 10 hits. Alice’s defense committed six errors.

Jordyn Torre led the Cherokees driving in five runs off three hits.

The Lady Coyotes scored first in the first inning off an RBI double by Meaghan Molina. The double scored Sam Hinojosa, who got on base off a Cherokees’ error. Molina had both of Alice’s hits.

Hinojosa pitched for Alice. She allowed 12 hits and walked two.
