The Pharr San Juan-Alamo North Winter Relays lived up to its name Saturday. With temperatures in the 40's, it felt like the peak of winter.

Still, it was a good day for Alice’s boys and girls. Alice was second in the boys division and second in the girls.

The boys were led by Waylon Moore, who was first in the 200-meter, and the relay team of Moore, Weston Moore, Chris Garza and R.J. Salas won the 800-meter relay. Alice also won the 400-meter relay with the team of Jose Salinas, R.J. Salas, Salaiz and Garza.

Salaiz was second in the 100-meter dash and third in the 200-meter dash. Samuel Salinas was third in the 3,200-meter run.

The relay team of Lupe Garcia, Jordan Perez, Ethan Vasquez and Salinas was third in the distance medley relay. Mark Salinas, Perez, Moore and Moore teamed up to take third in the 1,600-meter relay.

The Alice girls were second in the meet behind a strong showing in the relays.

The team of Kaitlyn Solis, Sam Pierce, Tania Lillich and Rita Castillo were second in the distance medley relay with a time of 14:51. Alice was second in the 400-meter relay with Julissa Rodriguez, Mysabel Olivares, NyKaela Garcia, Mercedes Bonilla. They had a time of 55.7. The team of Garcia, Alaura Cantu, Olivares and Aliah Gonzalez were second in the 800-meter relay with a time of 2:00. Garcia, Olivares, Rodriguez and Cantu were third in the 1,600-meter relay with a time of 4:49.

Rita Castillo was first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:42. Lillich was third and Cantu was fourth.

Paris Chalfant was second in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 13:56. Solis was fourth.

Castillo was third in the 1,600-meter run. Lillich was fourth and Chalfant was sixth.

Garcia was sixth in the 400-meter run.

The Alice teams are competing in the Wildcat Relays in Gregory-Portland High School Saturday.
