CORPUS CHRISTI — Alice’s game against the Corpus Christi Moody Lady Trojans was like a tale of two halves.

Playing on their home court at Moody High School, the Lady Trojans jumped out in front of the Lady Coyotes in the first period. Alice trailed by one after the first period, but only halfway into the second period, that deficit had grown to 20.

The Lady Coyotes slowly chipped away and rallied in the second half. The Lady Trojans were able to hold off the Lady Coyotes, but not before the margin of victory was down to two. Moody won the non-district game, 68-66.

Alice made it close with a pesky defense and a career-night by senior Tayler Blum, who scored 35 points in the game. Blum scored 21 in the second half, including 13 in the fourth period. Senior Jakki Barrera scored 12, including nine in the fourth period. Uly Perez had eight points.

Including tournament play, the Lady Coyotes are 6-5 for the season.

The Lady Coyotes have another stern challenge Tuesday with another road game against Veterans Memorial.
