Days after winning big in their first game of the season, the Alice Lady Coyotes ran into a juggernaut in the Victoria West Warriors Tuesday night.

The Warriors were able to handle the Lady Coyotes press from the start and they used that advantage to race to a 71-44 victory.

Victoria West scored 19 points in the first, second and fourth quarters. Meanwhile, Alice struggled to get in a rhythm offensively. They were held to nine in the first period and four in the second.

The Lady Coyotes did put together a 22-point third quarter behind seven points from senior Jakki Barrera. Barrera finished the game as Alice’s top scorer with 16 points. Her points included four three-pointers. Juniors Sarina Cantu and Kayla Escobar each scored nine. Senior Tayler Blum scored seven points.

Jozelyn Washington led the Warriors with a 26-point game.

The Lady Coyotes began the season with a convincing 56-45 win against Corpus Christi King Saturday. Escobar led the team in scoring with 26 points. Blum had 15.
