BEN BOLT — Two Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco High School Lady Badgers made it official Monday. They are continuing their athletic pursuits onto the next level.

Mia Guevara signed with Texas A&M University-Kingsville to run track and field and Jacqueline Sneed made a verbal commitment to play volleyball for Schreiner University located in Kerrville.

Guevara was a four-time varsity cross country and track runner at Ben Bolt Palito-Blanco High School. She’s a three-time state qualifier in cross country and a three-time regional qualifier in track. She’s the two-time district runner-up in cross country, two-time district champion in the 3,200-meter run and 1600-meter run and the 800-meter run district champion.

She’s received first-team honors in cross country as well as first-team academic honors. Outside of high school, she’s participated in Alice’s summer track program as well as AAU track. She is an active member in several clubs, such as FCCLA, Student Council (president), NHS (vice-president) and the Spanish Club. She also holds the officer position of secretary in her class. She is currently ranked second in her class and plans to major in Speech Pathology in college. She will be running the 3,200-meters and 1.600-meters at the regional meet Friday and Saturday at TAMUK.

Sneed was a part of the Lady Badger varsity volleyball team for the past four seasons and was a starter for three out of the fair years. She plays both as an outside hitter and middle blocker. Sneed has received various awards throughout her years as a Lady Badger volleyball player. As a freshman, she received Honorable Mention and All-Academic. During her sophomore year, she received First Team-All District and All-Academic. As a junior and a senior, she received Offensive MVP and All-Academic.

The Lady Badgers made it to playoffs each year and were bi-district champions in three out of the four years Sneed played. Sneed also played with Storm Performance Volleyball Club in Corpus Christi for three seasons, where she was successful and won many tournaments. She was a starter on her club team for all three years. Sneed is involved in many clubs including National Honor Society, FCCLA, National Society of High School Scholars, and Phi Delta Kappa.
