AGUA DULCE — For part of Friday night, it didn’t seem like things were going Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco’s way.

They were in the game with Agua Dulce, but they seemingly weren’t catching a break. At the same time, the Longhorns were clicking on offense and making plays defensively.

They found themselves playing catch up for much of the night, but when it mattered most, Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco came up with the play it needed to make a difference and win, 34-27.

With time winding down, A.J. Garcia slipped past the Badgers’ defense with a stop-and-go route and then was hit by quarterback Adrian Estrada for a 50-yard touchdown.

It was the third time this season in which the Badgers were able to come back and win inside the final minute of a game, and is something that first-year coach Ray Ramos is proud of, especially considering how young his team is this season.

“Cardiac kids,” Ramos said. “We start eight freshmen and sophomore, and we’ve had to come back in three games.”

The Longhorns were able to take the lead in the first half thanks to the play of wide receiver R.J. Garcia, quarterback Randal Garza and running back Jacob Salinas.

The Badgers improved to 4-2 for the season. It was also a much-needed win following last week’s 50-6 blowout loss to Poth.

The Badgers have a road game next week against La Villa. Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco is playing at Woodsboro Friday.
