When the Alice Coyotes open their baseball season, they’ll actually be opening the South Texas baseball season. Moreover, they’ll be doing so on one of the premier baseball parks in Texas.

The Coyotes are taking on the Sinton Pirates at 6:30 p.m. Monday Feb. 20 at Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi. The non-district match-up amounts to the first high school baseball game in the Coastal Bend of the new season.

For Alice, it’ll be their first time on the field under new and first-year head coach Rene Chavez, who came to Alice from King High School this season. The match-up is a non-district game, but still a quality match-up since it pits the Coyotes against Class 4A’s No. 6-ranked squad.

The game is also one of 15 regular-season high school baseball games scheduled for Whataburger Field this season.
