A community health event in April includes a golf tournament and a 5K Run and Walk.

The two events are on the day of the Spring Into Good Health event on April 9

The golf tournament is at the Alice Municipal Golf Course. Entry fee is $65 per person or $260 per team. All fees are due on the day of the tournament, and entry fee includes green and cart fees and a meal. Tournament format is four-man scramble. To sign up, call the golf course at (361) 664-7033. Registration on the day of the tournament is at 7 a.m. Tee time is at 8 a.m.

The Family Fun Run 5K begins at 8 a.m. at the Anderson Park Pavilion. Awards will be given to first, second and third place finishers. Registration is $15 for children and participants 60 and over, $25 for other registering before March 22 and $30 for those signing up after March 22. Spring Into Good Health is an event sponsored by the Community Action of South Texas and Alice ISD. It is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Alice V.F.W. at 22 N. Texas Blvd.

It includes free health screening and information tables on immunizations, child safety, cholesterol, diabetes, stroke and heart disease prevention, family planning and weight and nutrition. Additionally, city and county offices will have booths. There will also have a Ask-A-Doctor booth. Transportation to the event is available upon request.
