Alice - Socorro Charles, age 82, passed away November 19, 2021 in Alice, Texas. She was born May 20, 1939 in George West, Texas to Antonio and Maria Martinez. She will be remembered for her love for her family and spending time with them. Socorro was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and crocheting. She loved her animals, her chickens and roosters. She loved playing chalupa, talking on the phone with her family and friends, and going to church. She was a compassionate, loving and caring person who had a heart of gold. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Maria Martinez; husband, Felipe Charles; son, Felipe Charles Jr.; siblings, Juan Martinez, Pablo Martinez, Arculano Martinez, Espirion Martinez, Bruna Lopez, Francisca Reyna, Maria Moreno, and a niece raised as sister, Delia Garza.

She is survived by her daughters, Nelda McGovern (Brian) of Arlington and Norma Gonzales (Rey) of Alice; Ramon Martinez (Rosa) of Tuscola and Julia Nava (Manuel) of Brownwood; six grandchildren, Christina Lawson, Alexis Murphy (Travis), Matthew Lawson, Christopher Gonzales (Jessica), Kimberly Gonzales (Richard Torres), ad Rey Gonzales Jr.; great-grandchildren, Austin Lawson, Jaelyn Gonzales, Raelyn Gonzales, Noah Gonzales, Marissa Lyn Gonzales, Remi Gonzales, Emma Torres, and Rowan Torres; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held Friday, November 26, 2021 from 5 till 9 p.m. at Rosas Funeral Home with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m. that evening. A funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial to follow at New Collins Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Reyna, Omar Reyna, Javier Reyna, Johnny Jo Martinez, Jose Trevino, and Robert Gonzalez.
