Rev. Douglas Odell Daughtry
Rev. Douglas Odell Daughtry, 80, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 25, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 24, 1940 in Austin, Texas to Major Douglas & Lilly Pearl (Chisholm) Daughtry. He was a Pastor for over 50 years at several churches in the South Texas area including Fowlerton Baptist Church in Fowlerton, Texas, Second Baptist Church in Aransas Pass, Texas; West Main Baptist Church in Alice, Texas; Cornerstone Baptist Church in Alice, Texas and most recently, North Bay Fellowship in Ingleside, Texas where he was instrumental in building and continuing to pastor for over 21 years.
Pastor Odell was a generous, humble and loving man whose first concern was to lead people to Christ and a relationship with Him. His passion was to encourage people as well as build and grow churches. He touched people with his truly open heart without judgement or condemnation. He never met anyone who he would not befriend.
Preceding in death are his parents; a sister: Sharon Daughtry Witt; and his wife of 48 years, Patsy.
Pastor Odell is survived by his loving wife of 10 years: Linda Daughtry; his children: Ty (Arleta) Daughtry, Rick (Lauren) Daughtry, Madalyn (Barry) Burnfield; 10 Grandchildren: Brandon Lee (Kelli) Daughtry, Major Douglas Daughtry, Chester Daniel Daughtry, Benjamin Kyle (Victoria) Daughtry, Kailyn (Eric) Williams, Megan Janie Renobato, Emma Lee Burnfield, Lilly Elizabeth Burnfield, Elle Marie Burnfield, William Cross Burnfield and Gavin Henderson; and 7 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Thursday, July 29, 2021, 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home,1345 S. Commercial Aransas Pass. The family will be present 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The Funeral Service will be Friday, July 30, 2021, 2:00 PM at the North Bay Fellowship Church, 3530 N. Main Street in Ingleside, Texas. Interment will follow in Prairie View Cemetery, Aransas Pass, TX.
