BENAVIDES, Texas, Omadee S. Garza, 75, a lifelong resident of Benavides, Texas, died Saturday, April 12, 2008 in an Alice hospital after a short illness. She was a member of Santa Rosa De Lima Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America. She served as a school board member of Benavides I.S.D. for two terms and was retired from Community Action of South Texas after 20 years of employment as a case worker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Amando Garza Sr.; her parents, Jesus and Celia Salinas; one sister, Umbelina S. Alaniz and one brother, Jesus Salinas Jr.
Survivors include a son, Amando “Jay” (Irene) Garza Jr. of San Diego, Texas; two grandchildren, Jessica Marie Garza and Amando “A.J.” Garza III; four stepgrandchildren Delma “Dolly” (Manuel) Molina, Melissa Barrera, Rejeana Galvan and Lizzie Galvan; one aunt, Bertha (Isaac) De Los Santos of Benavides, Texas; one uncle, Jose (Alicia) Salinas of Benavides, Texas and one brother-in-law, Daniel Alaniz Jr. of Benavides, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. on Monday, April 14, 2008 at the Garza Funeral Home in San Diego with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at Santa Rosa De Lima Catholic Church in Benavides, Texas, with Father Andrew Hejdak as celebrant. Burial will follow at the Benavides Cemetery in Benavides, Texas.

ALICE, Texas – Ofelia L. Perez, 84, passed away in an Alice hospital on Saturday April 12, 2008. She was a homemaker. She was very active and outgoing in community activities and enjoyed music, dancing and most of all, her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Concepcion Lopez; her husband, Juan D. Perez; one grandson, Ruben Perez Jr.; two sisters, Ramona Trevino and Hortencia Trevino; and one brother, Raul Lopez.
Survivors include four sons, Juan Jose (Rosario) Perez of Petronilla, Texas, and Ruben (Anna) Perez, Noe (Consuelo) Perez and Juan Carlos Perez, all of Alice, Texas; three daughters, Irma (Florentino) Pereida and Delma Chavez both of Alice, Texas, and Delia (Juan R.) Garza of Corpus Christi, Texas; one sister, Oralia Rodriguez of Carpenterville, Ill.; 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2008 at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home of Alice with a Rosary recited that evening at 7 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and burial will follow at the New Collins Cemetery.
