ALICE, Texas - Horatio Rene Mendoza, 62, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2007, in a Corpus Christi hospital. He was born on July 16, 1945 to Horatio Mendoza and Amelia Perez in San Diego, Texas. He worked as a self-employed mechanic. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his son, Horatio Rene Mendoza Jr. of Alice, Texas; three daughters, Josie Mendoza, Cindy Mendoza and Belinda Renee Mross, all of Alice, Texas; two brothers Bernardo Mendoza of Garland, Texas, and Roy Molina of San Marcos, Texas; a sister, San Juanita Loera of McKinney, Texas; 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held from 6 to 9 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, September 9, 2007 at the Open Door Community Church in Alice. Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, September 10, 2007 at the Open Door Community Church in Alice. Private graveside services will be held at a later date.

Francisco S. "Frank" Estrada, Sr., 55, a long time resident of Alice, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 8, 2007 at his residence, with his family at his bedside. He was well known as a self-employed master mechanic and he was also employed with his brother's family owned business, Reliable Backhoe and Estrada Trucking. He had a passion for music as a song writer and musician he played both accordion and guitar.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lino Sr. and Eustolia Estrada.

Survivors include his wife, Delia "Dee" Beard Estrada of Alice, Texas; his two sons, Francisco Estrada Jr. of San Diego, Texas, and Nathan R. Estrada of Corpus Christi, Texas; his daughters, Graciela (Luis) Pizzini, Priscilla (Marty) Charles and Elizabeth (Jason) Soliz, all of San Diego, Texas; his stepsons, Jason (April) Beard of Ruth Miss., and Jacob Beard of Alice, Texas; his stepdaughter, Kelli Beard of Alice, Texas; his brothers, Lino (Cris) Estrada Jr., Lorenzo (Ida) Estrada, Fernando Estrada, and Gilbert (Elida) Estrada; his sisters, Maria Elena (Oscar) Ramirez of Alice, Texas, Isabel San Juanita Gonzalez of Childress, Texas, and Virginia (Tony) Garza of Alice, Texas; 16 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. at Garza Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 11, 2007. Vigil for the Deceased will be observed with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alice, Texas. Burial will follow at the San Diego Cemetery in San Diego, Texas.

FREER, Texas - Ramona M. Garcia, 101, passed away Saturday, September 8, 2007, in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was born November 29, 1905 in La Rosita, Texas, to the late Santos and Paula Moncada and was raised in Cotulla, Texas. At the age of 14, she was a professional seamstress for Cotulla Court House. Her passion was sewing and caring for animals, most notably cats. She always offered wise advice and shared stories from her past experiences. She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Garcia of Cotulla, Texas, and two brothers, Jose Maria Moncada of La Rosita, Texas, and Pedro Moncada of Freer, Texas.

Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Noemi (Agustine) De La Garza, Lydia Moncada Farias, Olga (Jerry) Farias and Santos (Ellie) Moncada, all of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Laruro Moncada and Edna Moncada, both of Freer, Texas.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 10, 2007 from 3 to 9 p.m. at Garza Funeral Home in Freer, Texas, with a prayer service to be held at 7 p.m. that evening. Funeral service will be held at Garza Funeral Home Chapel at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 11, 2007 with Brother Hector Moncada officiating. Burial will follow at the Hahl Memorial Cemetery in Freer, Texas.
