FREER, Texas - Pablo L. Espinoza, 85, passed away January 21, 2008 in a San Diego nursing home after a long illness. He was a WWII veteran who served in the U. S. Army, a Mutualista member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was a retired self-employed owner of Paul's Billiard Hall in Freer, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alicia D. Espinoza; and one son, Arnulfo Espinoza.
Survivors include his son, Arturo D. Espinoza of Freer, Texas; daughter, Nelda (Romeo) Bazan of Corpus Christi, Texas; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a daughter-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at the Mauro P. Garcia Chapel of Freer, Texas, with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. that evening.
Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 24, 2009 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Freer, Texas, and burial followed at the Hahl Memorial Park Cemetery with a military graveside service by the local V.F.W. Post 9786.

BENAVIDES, Texas - Brigida Carrillo Garza, 95, a lifelong resident of Benavides, Texas, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2008, in an Alice hospital.
She was a member of Santa Rosa De Lima Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society, and was also a member of St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church in San Diego.
She enjoyed cooking, quilting and playing bingo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Crisanto Garza Sr.; a granddaughter, her parents and her brothers and sisters.
Survivors include a son, Crisanto (Leonor) Garza Jr. of Corpus Christi, Texas; a daughter, Evangelina (Frank) Briones of San Diego, Texas; a sister, Trinidad Saenz of Benavides, Texas; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, January 28, 2008 at the Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas, with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. that evening.
Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church in San Diego, Texas. Burial followed at the Benavides Cemetery in Benavides, Texas.

SPRINGFIELD COMMUNITY, Texas - Maria Luisa Mendiola, 73, passed away January 23, 2008 at her residence in the Springfield Community in Jim Wells County.
She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Guadalupe and Julia Pena; one brother, Juan L. Pena; and two sisters, Celestina P. Trejo and Graciela Morin.
Survivors include one son, Domingo (Juana) Mendiola Jr. of Alice, Texas; one daughter: Margarita (Juan) Hernandez of Alice, Texas; one sister, Julia P. Salinas of Springfield Community; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was at 3 p.m. Thursday, January 24, 2008 at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home of San Diego, Texas, with a Rosary recited that evening at 7 p.m.
Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, January 25, 2008 at St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church and burial followed at the San Diego Cemetery.
