1921 - 2011
Nelda Jeanne Chapin Borello, 90, of Alvin, Texas, was called to Heaven Friday, April 22, 2011 at her residence. Nelda was born on March 10, 1921, in Breckenridge, Texas, to parents Joel Arnett and Alma Bess Chapin. She attended school in Freer, Texas, where she was a drum majorette with the Buckaroo Band of Freer High School and held the title of the “Most Beautiful Girl” of 1938. In 1942, she joined the Women’s Auxiliary Army Corp (WAAC).
Upon discharge from the military she worked as a telephone operator in Freer. Freer is where she met and married Adolfo Frank Borello in 1947.
Nelda was a resident of Alvin for the past 16 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Joe Jack and Hayes Gilpin Chapin.
Left to mourn is her husband of 64 years, Adolfo Frank Borello, three children Candice Dell Borello Egbert, Frank Chapin Borello and wife Mary Lee, Cindy Borello Walton and husband Jerry, grandchildren Rosemary Evans, Cinnamon Egbert, Matthew Egbert, Janeen Farkas and husband Dave, Bonnie Fraley, Ginger Mendisabal and husband David, James Borello and fiancée Sarah Glass, Louis Walton, great-grandchildren Chandler Evans, Anna Claire Evans, Cora Bell, Trace Bost, David Fraley, Hunter Fraley, Kayla Cleveland, Michael Mendisabal, Jenna Mendisabal, and numerous other relatives and friends.
Nelda’s family would like to thank Compassionate Care Hospice for the loving and respectful care she received during her illness.
A Memorial service to honor Nelda will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2011, at Scott Funeral Home.
