Huerta

FALFURRIAS, Texas - Santos G. Huerta, 106, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2007 in a Falfurrias nursing home. He was the oldest Brooks County resident. He was born January 21, 1900 in Brownsville, Texas, to Juan and Juanita Garcia Huerta. He then moved his family into town and worked at various jobs unitl he became a custodian at the Falfurrias Central ward school, where he worked for several years prior to his retirement in 1974. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sara C. Huerta; two daughters, Dominga Huerta and Consuelo Huerta; a son, Arturo Huerta; his parents; brothers, Jose and Juan Huerta Jr.; and his sisters, Adelina Rios and Manuela Soliz.

Survivors include six sons, Nicolas (Celia) Huerta, Antonio (Idolina) Huerta, Adan (Alma) Huerta and Alberto (Dolores) Huerta, all of Falfurrias, Texas, Santos (Angelita) Huerta Jr. of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Alfredo Huerta of Dallas, Texas; three daughters, Juanita Olivares and Maria Eva Huerta, both of Falfurrias, and Benita Huerta of San Antonio, Texas; 25 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 31 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends and relatives at 1 p.m. Friday, January 19, 2007 at Alaniz Funeral Home of Falfurrias, with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. that evening. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Falfurrias, Texas. Burial will follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Falfurrias.

Longoria

SAN DIEGO, Texas - Rosa Trinidad Longoria, 87, a long time resident of San Diego, Texas, died Wednesday January 17, 2007 in a Corpus Christi, Texas, hospital after a short illness. She was a member of the St. Francis De Paula Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, beading bracelets and cooking. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and helped raise her grandchildren whom she adored equally. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesus M. Longoria; her grandson, Jacinto Jimenez Jr.; and her parents and siblings

She leaves to cherish her memories her sons, Jacinto (Eva) Jimenez of Rivera, Texas, Jose Luis (Mary) Longoria of San Diego, Texas, Jesus (Minnie) Longoria, Jr. of East Bernard, Texas, and Adan (Sylvia) Longoria of San Antonio, Texas; her daughters, Evangelina (Homero) Hinojosa of San Diego, Texas, Anselma (Norberto) Almaraz of Odem, Texas, and Viola (Rodolfo) Couling of San Antonio, Texas; 22 grandchildren, Jovita, Javier, Julian, Arnold, Maria Alicia and Maribel Jimenez, Anna Maria Garcia, Graciela Cruz, Melissa, Katarina and Monica Longoria, Leola Leila and Norma Lynda Hinojosa, Lisa Marie Almaraz, Jessica and Michael Couling, Jessica, Jesse, Joseph Matthew, John David and Michael Paul Longoria; 30 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m. on Friday, January 19, 2007 at the Garza Funeral Home. Vigil for the Deceased will be observed with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2007. Burial will follow at the San Diego Cemetery in San Diego, Texas.

Rubalcava

SAN DIEGO, Texas - Luciano "Chano" Rubalcava Sr., 51, a long time resident of San Diego, Texas, died Wednesday, January 17, 2007 in an Alice hospital after a sudden illness. He worked in the oilfield industry for various oil field companies and was presently employed with CC Forbes as a rig supervisor. He enjoyed spending time with his family, his dog Spur and enjoyed music, fighting roosters, barbecuing and riding his motorcycle. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Rubalcava; his parents, Moises and Oralia Ruvalcaba; his daughter, Cynthia Rubalcava; and his two sons, Luciano (Erica) Rubalcava Jr. and Rene (Yvonne) Rubalcava, all of San Diego, Texas; two stepdaughters, Leslie Gallegos and Tanya (Adam) Guedda, both of San Diego, Texas; five stepsons, Orlando (Isella) Garza, Jose Luis (Roxanne) Corona, Daniel (Jennifer) Corona, John (Josie) Corona, Darryl Alaniz, all of San Diego, Texas; brothers and sisters, Moises Jr. (Doris) Ruvalcaba, Reynaldo (Maria) Ruvalcaba, Rigoberto (Priscilla) Ruvalcaba, Rosa (Faustino) Soliz, Maria de Jesus Soliz (David Munoz), Gabriela (David) Garcia all of San Diego, Texas, Manuel (Martha) Ruvalcaba, Juan (Minerva) Ruvalcaba, Ester (Lorenzo) Varela, Elizabeth Ruvalcaba all of Cd. Valle Hermoso Tamps. Mexico, and Isaac (Cecilia) Ruvalcaba of Baja California Sur La Paz Mexico; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m. on Friday, January 19, 2007 at the Garza Funeral Home in San Diego with a prayer service at 7 p.m. that evening. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2007 at Garza Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Pablo Sanchez officiating. Burial will follow at the San Diego Cemetery in San Diego, Texas.
