SANDIA, Texas – Vera Blair, 97, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at her residence. She was born February 13, 1911 in Marietta, Okla.

Survivors include one daughter, Vera Hyatt of Sandia, Texas; one son, Wayne Blair of Sandia, Texas; one sister, Rosemary Beckworth of Glenrose, Texas; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2008 at the Sandia Cemetery in Sandia, Texas, with Pastor John Byerley officiating.

Bowland

ORANGE GROVE, Texas - Lorenza Bowland, 62, passed away April 5, 2008 in a Corpus Christi hospital. She was born August 8, 1945 in Alice, Texas, to Jesus M. and Lorenza Garcia. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, William B. Bowland of Orange Grove, Texas; one son, Ryan Bowland of Orange Grove; four sisters, Leonora Casares and Olga (Ted) Gonzalez, both of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Maria E. Ross and Adriana L. (Israel) Guerra, both of Orange Grove; and three brothers, Seferino (Feliz) Garcia of Orange Grove, Daniel Garcia of Alice and Marcos Garcia of Orange Grove.

Visitation was Monday, April 7, 2008 from 1 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, April 8, 2008 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. that evening at Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel in Alice.

The funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Orange Grove, Burial followed in the Orange Grove Union Cemetery.

Deanda

ORANGE GROVE, Texas – Victoria Deanda, 87, died on March 31, 2008 in an Alice hospital following an extended illness. She was born to Agapito and Manuela Ramon on March 23, 1921 in Orange Grove, Texas.

Survivors include her husband, Deacon Candido Deanda III of Orange Grove, Texas; one son, Candido Deanda IV of Carrizo Springs, Texas; six daughters, Elida Morales of Corpus Christi, Texas, Irma Ulibarri of Diboll, Texas, Manuela “Mary” Reyes of Houston, Texas, Janie Bean of Tiffon, Ohio, Diana Deanda of Orange Grove, Texas, and Gloria Perin of Bloomville, Ohio; four brothers, Demetrio Ramon of Sandusky, Ohio, Rosendo Ramon of Weslaco, Texas, Vidal Ramon of Vickery, Ohio, and Tony Alegria of Lubbock, Texas; 21 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Thursday, April 2, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. Rosary was recited on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Roberson Funeral Home Chapel at 7 p.m.

Mass was on Friday, April 4, 2008 at 10 a.m. at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Orange Grove, Texas. Burial followed at the Orange Grove Cemetery in Orange Grove, Texas.
