Ramiro A. Cantu Sr., 80, a longtime resident of Freer, Texas, died Monday, September 10, 2007 in a Corpus Christi hospital after a long illness. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WW II. He had a strong religious belief in God and many people would seek his knowledge, wisdom and advice. He was a retired worker of Duval County. Ramiro was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother who will be sadly missed by his family and everyone who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Placido and Marcelina Cantu; his son, Ramiro Cantu Jr.; granddaughter, Cindy Lee Flood; a great grandson Ethan Daniel Esquivel; three brothers, Abel Cantu, Eduardo Cantu and Jose Cantu and his sister, Vicenta Cantu.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 56 years of marriage Maria Consuelo Cantu of Freer, Texas; two sons, Hector (Alma) Cantu of San Diego, Texas, and Omar (Irasema) Cantu of Laredo, Texas; his daughters, Thelma (Thomas) Flood of Freer, Texas, Norma (Alonzo) Garza of Bishop, Texas, Patricia (Gary) Kelly of Hallettsville, Texas and Brenda (Randy) Dees of George West, Texas; his twin brother, Raul Cantu of San Diego, Texas; and his sister, Senona Perez of Kingsville, Texas. Other survivors include 15 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews
Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at the Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas. Vigil of deceased with rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. that same evening. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 13, 2007 at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church in San Diego, Texas.
Military graveside services and interment will follow at the Valadez Cemetery in La Bandera Community.

Reba M. "Mickey" Huffstutler, 89, of Canutillo, TX, a schoolteacher, died Sunday, September 9, 2007, at her residence.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 14, 2007, at Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church, Stephenville, Texas with Pastor Donnie Halbgewachs officiating. Burial will be at Morgan Mill Cemetery, Morgan Mill, Texas.
She was born on July 9, 1918, to the late Dr. L. D. and Viola (Hayes) Parsons in Dawson, Texas. She married Tracy L. Huffstutler Jr. He preceded her in death. She was a member of the Methodist church. She taught school in Robstown, Mathis and Alice, Texas and was a member of the Texas Poetry ASSN Laureate.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Donald Halbgewachs of Canutillo, Texas; sister, Zinta Fowler of Carrollton, Texas; nine grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

Pansy Mills Murchison, 84, of Annaville passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2007. She was born on August 4, 1923 in Alfred, Texas. She lived in Ricardo, Premont, Corsicana, and Annaville during her life, but always considered Ricardo and Kingsville her home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Travis and Florence Kemper Mills and her brother, Richard Mills. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Dawson Richard Murchison Jr. of Annaville, Texas; two sons, Dick (Mary) Murchison III of Kingsville, Texas and Travis Murchison of Corpus Christi, Texas; one daughter, Susan (David) Ivy of Kingsville, Texas; her grandchildren, Dedra and Dawson Murchison IV and Georgie Murchison Bullard; her great granddaughter, Hannah Murchison; her brothers, Jim Mills of Mission, Texas, Dewey Mills of El Centro, Calif., and Bob Mills of Ricardo, Texas; her sisters, Peggy Mills Schurtz of Sweeney, Texas, Mary Mills McElyea of Wickenburg, Ariz., and JoAnne Mills Jumper of Phoenix, Ariz.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families. She loved all her family and friends dearly, and was loved in return by them all.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 13, 2007 at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary in Kingsville. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 14, 2007 at Chamberlain Cemetery in Kingsville.

Lorene Marie Buegeler, 74, passed away September 11, 2007 in Alice, Texas. She was born November 2, 1932 in Alice, Texas to Walter and Selma Gebert. Lorene was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and a member of the Altar Guild. She was a volunteer at Christus Spohn Alice Hospital, she was a former telephone operator and was active in the 4-H Club in Alice. Lorene was a member of the Jim Wells County Farm Bureau. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Buegeler, her parents, two sisters and three brothers.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda (Russell) Anderson of Omaha, Neb, and Elaine Young of New York City, N.Y.; two sons, Michael (Traci) Buegeler of Alice and Garry (Pam) Buegeler of Hallsville; 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday September 13, 2007 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Holmgreen Mortuary.
The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, September 14, 2007 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Alice. Burial will follow in the Alice Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lance Buegeler, Travis Hayzlett, Keith Hamilton, Scott Gebert, George Gebert and Lary Buegeler.
