BOERNE, Texas - Humberto G. "Beto" Cantu, 74, a former resident of Realitos, Texas and a resident of Boerne, Texas, since 1974, passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at his residence surrounded by his family at his bedside. He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Boerne, Texas and was retired from Redland Construction after 20 years of employment. He enjoyed dancing, gardening, landscaping and painting. He was preceded in death by a son, Santos Cantu, his parents, Santos and Hortencia Cantu and two brothers, Corando Cantu and Miguel Solis.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Virginia Q. Cantu of Boerne, Texas; a son, Humberto Cantu Jr. of Boerne, Texas; two daughters, Ninfa C. (Roberto) Garcia of Benavides, Texas and Norma C. Huerta of Boerne, Texas; a sister, Hortencia C. (Ramiro) Baez of Realitos, Texas; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a former daughter-in-law and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Monday, February 4, 2008 at the Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Realitos, Texas, with Father Mario Flores as celebrant. Burial will follow at the Realitos Cemetery in Realitos, Texas.

Gongora

SAN DIEGO, Texas - Diana Perez Gongora, 85, a lifelong resident of San Diego, Texas, passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at her residence after a sudden illness. She was born on August 14, 1922 in San Diego, Texas. She was a member of St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church and was retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company after 20 years of employment. She was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio C. Gongora, her parents, Antonio and Elvira Perez; one sister, Emma P. Pena; and three brothers, Antonio, Julian and Fidencio Perez.

Survivors include her sister-in-law and 13 nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at the Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas, with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church in San Diego, Texas. Burial will follow at the San Diego Cemetery.
