ORANGE GROVE - Hubert Earl Carroll, 62, died, Wednesday, January 30, 2008 in a San Antonio hospital after an illness. Carroll was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert L. Carroll and Virginia Morris Carroll, and a nephew.

He is survived by, a son, Earl Carroll Jr. of Bastrop, Texas, a daughter, Virginia Carroll of Orange Grove, Texas; three brothers, Dennis Carroll of Orange Grove, Texas, Jim Carroll of Vero Beach, Fla., and Gwindel Carroll of Xinna, Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews

Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., Sunday, February 3, 2008 at Walker-Mora Funeral Home Chapel in Alice. Graveside Service at 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 4, 2008 conducted by The United Veteran Burial Association of Alice at Orange Grove Cemetery in Orange Grove, Texas.

Garza

ORANGE GROVE - Alfredo M. Garza, age 43, died, Wednesday, January 30, 2008 in a Corpus Christi hospital after an illness. Born in Mathis, Texas he was a resident of Orange Grove, Texas.

Mr. Garza was employed as a Carpenter. He was preceded in death by his father, Laureano Garza, Sr.

He is survived by, his mother, Juanita Moreno Garza of Orange Grove, Texas; his wife, Lucia Garza of Alice, Texas; three sons, Alfredo Garza Jr, Luis Garza and Leroy Garza, all of Alice, Texas; six sisters, Yolanda Garza of Orange Grove, Texas, Amelia Pacheco of San Antonio, Texas, Blanca Gonzalez of La Mesa, Texas, Eva Perez of Mathis, Texas, Irma Garza of SanAntonio, Texas, and Gloria Garza of Orange Grove, Texas; three brothers, Laureano Garza, Jr, of Alfred, Texas, Jose Garza of Corpus Christi, Texas and Amador Garza of Orange Grove, Texas.

Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., Monday, February 4, 2008 at Walker-Mora Funeral Home Chapel in Alice, Texas. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Orange Grove, Texas, with burial to follow at Orange Grove Cemetery.

Garza

SAN DIEGO, Texas - Petra Loera Garza, 101, died on January 31, 2008 in a San Diego nursing home. She was born on September 9, 1906 in Laredo, Texas to Antonio and Domitila Medrano Loera. She had been a schoolteacher in San Diego for 43 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesus Garza.

Survivors include two special nieces, Dee Alvarado of San Diego, Texas, and Ruthie (Tommy) Valdez of Corpus Christi, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, February 3, 2008 at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 4, 2008 at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary with Rev. Refugio Gonzales officiating. Burial will follow in Chamberlain Cemetery in Kingsville.

Arrangements are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary of Kingsville, Texas.

Oliver

ALICE, Texas - Sheila Oliver, 58, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2008 in a Corpus Christi hospital following a short illness. She was preceded in death by her father, Edward L. Sipper in 2002. Sheila was born in Corsicana, Texas on January 9, 1950. She lived in Alice, Texas, the past five years, but had previously lived in Buda, Texas, just outside Austin. She was a loving daughter to Floye, a loving sister to Tina, and a loving aunt to Colton. She had many friends that loved her and she loved them just a as much.

Survivors include her mother, Floye Sipper of Alice, Texas; sister, Tina Roberson, wife of Steve Wofford of Alice, Texas; nephew, Colton Roberson of Alice, Texas; a special uncle, Glenn Sandefer of Quinlan, Texas; and numerous aunts and uncles.

A Memorial Funeral Service will be conducted Saturday, February 2, 2008 at 6 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Agua Dulce, Texas with Bro. Charles Childers officiating.

Wernecke

KINGSVILLE, Texas - Caroline A. Wernecke, 79, a resident of Kingsville, Texas, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2008 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was born on March 12, 1928 in Vernon, Texas, to Otto Raschke and Minnie Arldt Raschke. Mrs. Wernecke was a prominent rancher and farmer working along side her husband of 59 years who preceded her in death on August 6, 2007. Mrs. Wernecke was a homemaker and member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was a loving wife and mother who was devoted to her children and grandchildren.

Mrs. Wernecke is survived by two daughters, Carolyn DeCamp and Marilyn (Joe) Ellis, both of Corpus Christi; two sons, Edward (Michele) Wernecke of Agua Dulce, Texas, and Walter (Sandra) Wernecke of San Antonio, Texas; one sister, Junell (Charles) Skelton of Witchita Falls, Texas; two brothers, Leon (Anna) Raschke of Harrold, Texas, and Hubert (Audrey) Raschke of Electra, Texas; 12 grandchildren, Lori DeCamp, Jason and Michael Ellis, Cassandra, Clinton, Matt, Jonathan, Joshua, James, Katie, Christopher and Crista Wernecke; eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Public visitation took place on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. with the family receiving friends that evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 3, 2008 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 521 East Doddridge Street in Kingsville, with Rev. Allan Eckert officiating. Burial will follow in Kingsville at Resthaven Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
