ALICE - James D. "Jimmy" Adcock, 63, passed away May 28, 2007 in a Corpus Christi hospital following a long illness. He was born December 3, 1943 in Stockdale, Texas, to Roy and Adeline Adcock. He was a long time resident of Alice and the area. He was a retired partner of Adcock Pipe and Supply, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Alice.
Survivors include his sons, James David (Dawn) Adcock Jr. of Granbury and Kevin Scott (Amanda) Adcock of Corpus Christi; his lifelong friend and the mother of his children, Nita Adcock of Granbury; two sisters, Barbara (Kenneth) Wake of San Antonio and Nelda (Ray) Segree of Sandia; his brother, Roy Adcock Jr. of Alice; five grandchildren, Colby, Kelsey, Kendall, Jarod and Kailey; three nephews, seven nieces, 10 greatnephews, 13 great-nieces, one great-great-niece and a host of cousins.
Visitation will be Wednesday May 30, 2007 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Holmgreen Mortuary.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday May 31, 2007 at the Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel in Alice. Cremation will follow.

SOMERSET, Texas - Jose Luis Garcia, 36, died May 26, 2007 after injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was a native of Alice, Texas, a graduate of A.I.S.D. and was presently employed with Classic Catering in Von Ormy, Texas, for 7 years.
Survivors include his two brothers, Orlando Ramos of Alice, Texas, and Orrin S. (Dinah) Garcia of Jourdanton, Texas; one sister, Isabel Garcia Garza of Somerset, Texas; three nieces and one nephew.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2007 with a Rosary to be recited at noon at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home Chapel in Alice. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. the same day at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alice. Burial will follow at Las Lattas Cemetery in Alice.

RIOS, Texas - Hector "Beco" Gonzalez, 85, a lifelong resident of Rios, Texas, died on Memorial Day, Monday, May 28, 2007 in a Corpus Christi hospital from complications of heart surgery. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II and was in combat in Italy and North Africa. He was one the founders and builders of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Rios, Texas. He was a dairy farmer and rancher all of his life and also was retired from the Duval County Courthouse.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Aurora C. Gonzalez of Rios, Texas; his son, Hector (Adelina) Gonzalez Jr. of Pleasanton, Texas; daughters, Irma Gloria Hinojosa of Edinburg, Texas, and Leila (Ernesto) Pruneda of McAllen, Texas; two brothers, Eladio (Bertha) Gonzalez of Alice, and Humberto Gonzalez of Rios, Texas; his sisters, Minerva Perez of San Diego, Texas, and Aminta Garza of Rios, Texas; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at the Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas. Vigil for the Deceased will be observed, with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2007 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Rios, Texas, with Father John Ouelette as celebrant. Military graveside services and interment will follow at the Victor Gonzalez Cemetery in Rios, Texas.

LAGARTO, Texas - Terry L. Hearn, 74, passed away Monday, May 28, 2007. He was born January 1, 1933 in Devine Texas. He worked in constuction as a civil engineer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Lee and Artie Hearn.
Survivors include his wife, Effie Ray Hearn of Lagarto, Texas; two daughters, Glenda C. (Carl) Srp and Terri Lynn (Joe) Gwosdz, both of Orange Grove, Texas; one son, Brian Lee Hearn of Peoria, Ariz.; and five grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2007 at 2 p.m. at the Pearsall Cemetery in Pearsall, Texas.

FREER, Texas - Ofelia C. Saenz, 82, passed away May 29, 2007 in a Corpus Christi hospital after a short illness. She was born in Falfurrias on August 10, 1924 to Antonio and Carolina Cuellar Canales. She was a 1944 graduate of Freer High School. She lived in Freer all of her life. She was a homemaker and a devoted parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Freer, Texas. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Association. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt and sister. Ofelia will be sadly missed by all who loved her dearly and all who knew her as "Mamo."
She was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Carolina Cuellar Canales; her husband, Rafael C. Saenz; two sisters, Cristina and Lilia Canales; and two brothers, Rogelio and Antonio Canales Jr.
Survivors include her two sons, Rafael "Ralph" (Marianela) Saenz and Pablo H. (San Juanita) Saenz, both of Corpus Christi, Texas; three daughters, Norma (Reynaldo) Lichtenberger of Corpus Christi, Texas, Elma (Homero) Galvan of Freer, Texas, and Rosalinda (Romeo) Barrera of San Antonio, Texas; one brother, Jose Benito (Barbarita) Canales of Freer, Texas; two sisters, Aurora Barrera of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Raquel Saavedra of San Antonio, Texas; a brother-in-law, Guadalupe Saenz of Freer, Texas; sisters-in-law, Amelia (Jose) Garcia and Margarita (Felix) Sanchez, both of Freer, Texas; 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, one great- great-grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2007 at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Chapel in Freer, Texas. A Rosary will be recited that evening at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, June 1, 2007 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Freer, Texas, and burial will follow at the Hahl Memorial Park Cemetery in Freer, Texas.
Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

ALICE, Texas - Dale Eugene Shepherd, 82, of Alice, Texas, passed away Monday, May 28, 2007. He was a long time businessman. He served as store manager for Terry Farris for more than 20 years and was president of the Sagewood Mall Merchants Association. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Paul Shepherd; and a daughter, Debra Shepherd.
Survivors include his wife, Apolonia Shepherd of Alice, Texas; four sons, David (Sherrie) Carscadden of Adel, Iowa, Timothy (Susan) Carscadden of Shreveport, La., Dale Eugene Shepherd Jr. of Alice, Texas, and Frank Allen (Joni) Shepherd of Hutto, Texas; two daughters, Jeanette (Raul) Johnson of Round Rock, Texas, Paula (fianc/ Cody Terrill) Shepherd of San Antonio, Texas; one brother, James (Margie) Shepherd of Indianapolis, Ind.; one sister, Judy (Emerson) Robbins of New Castle, Ind.; and 11 grandchildren.
A Rosary will be recited Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at 7 p.m. at the Ruben M. Garcia and Sons Funeral Services Chapel. A chapel service will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2007.
