SAN DIEGO, Texas - Elodia Molina Cantu, 84, a lifelong resident of San Diego, Texas, died Monday, June 11, 2007 in a Houston hospital after a long illness. She was born on June 11, 1923 in Mendieta Community to Mauricio and Enemencia Perez Molina. She was the owner and operator of Elodia's Flower and Gift Shop in San Diego for more than 50 years. She was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David L. Cantu; her son, Pedro G. (Wally) Gonzalez; and her brother, Ernesto P. Molina.

Survivors include her children, Gabriel (Alma) Gonzalez Sr., Graciela G. (Servando) Lichtenberger, and Gilberto (Clementina) Gonzalez Sr., all of San Diego, Texas, Eugene Gonzalez of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Edna (Ernie) Morales of San Diego, Texas; her brothers, Mauricio (Ernesta) Molina of San Jose, Calif., Manuel (Edna) Molina of Alice, Texas, and Regino (Lydia) Molina Sr. of San Diego; her sisters, Elia (John) Lewis of San Diego, Texas, Julia Gonzalez of Ben Bolt, Texas, and Maria (Justo) Ruiz of Alice, Texas; a daughter in-law, 17 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at the Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas.

Vigil for the Deceased will be observed, with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2007 at St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church in San Diego, Texas. Burial will follow at the San Diego Cemetery.
