ALICE, Texas – Doris Jeanette Foley, a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many, passed away on January 5, 2009 at the age of 81 in Alice, Texas.  

Jeanette was born in Mikeska, Texas, on August 29, 1927 and graduated from George West High School in 1943.  She studied nursing at the Jefferson Davis Hospital in Houston, Texas.  She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Alice, an active volunteer for many years at P&S Hospital in Alice and a member of the Petroleum Wives Club in Alice.  She and her husband were very active for many years in both the National and Texas chapters of the Third Marine Division Association, attending their functions all over the country.  Jeanette enjoyed traveling and she and her husband took many trips and tours to numerous exotic locations in Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, the South Pacific Islands, as well as many locations in the USA and Canada. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Tindol Freasier and Sue Mae (Stroman) Freasier of Live Oak County, Texas; four brothers, Earl Freasier, John Freasier, Theo Freasier and Charles Orian Freasier; and four sisters, Margaret Jackson, Mattie Rose, Alice Averre and Nell Jewell.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, John William Foley; daughter, Cheryl Anne (David) Gaines of League City, Texas; sons, Garner Lee (Cindy) Foley of Waring, Texas, and William Keith Foley of Humble, Texas; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Ivey Jean Freasier of Annaville, Texas, Jackie Porter of Kingsville, Texas, and Virginia Nelson of San Antonio, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews and a cousin, Margaret Byrum of George West, Texas.

 A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at the First Baptist Church in Alice, Texas at 2 p.m.  Thursday, January 8, 2009.
