Chapa, Guerra, Perez


Guillermo "Willie" McKenzie Chapa, age 60, died, Saturday, January 20, 2007 in a Corpus Christi Hospital after an illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilberto and Eva McKenzie Chapa and a sister, Lupita Guitz.

He is survived by, 2 sons, Roel (Renee) Chapa of Orange Grove, Texas and Raul (Eliza) Chapa of Alice, Texas; two daughters, Raquel (Les) Klemme of El Paso, Texas and Sylvia (Michael) French of Dallas, Texas; A brother, Gilberto Chapa, Jr, of Alice, Texas; three sisters, Aurora Martinez and Berta Trevino both of Alice, Texas and Elida Saenz of Houston, Texas.

A prayer service will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, January 25, 2007 at The Open Door Baptist Church at 1200 Seabreeze Street in Alice, Texas.

Emma Marie Guerra, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at the age of 59. She died at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Her family is deeply saddened by the suffering caused by her illness (Cancer). Her final day in this world was a peaceful one.

Emma was a graduate of San Diego High School. Soon after her graduation she moved to Washington D.C. where she worked for the F.B.I. Due to family hardship she was forced to move back home.

She worked for the district clerk's office as the chief deputy for 27 years. She was also employed with Glory B Home Health and currently for St. Peters Home Health.

She leaves to cherish her memories of her mother, Berta Barrera Guerra, her brother Donny (Patsy) Guerra III, her sisters, Josie Guerra, Anna Lisa (Peter) Barton, two nephews, Donny (Ruby) Guerra IV, Donny Guerra V, her nieces, Kassandra Guerra all of San Diego, Texas, nieces, Jo Anna and Saia Guerra and nephew Santiago Guerra of San Francisco, Calif. Her cousin whom she loved as a sister Greta (Pete) Guerra her cousins Rene Rangel, Rachel Salinas and Sylvia Arriola all of San Diego, Texas, two dear friends Edna and Ninfa Lazo also of San Diego, Texas.

Her aunt, Eleonor "Chata" Mendietta who helped as her caretaker.

She was preceded in death by her father Donaciano Guerra, Jr., her brother Gilberto Guerra, paternal grandparents, Donaciano, Sr. and Josefina Guerra, maternal grandparents Santiago and Tomasita Salinas Barrera.

Visitation was Thursday, January 25, 2007 at Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas. Vigil of Deceased with Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. that same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, Janauary 26, 2007 at St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church in San Diego, Texas. Burial will follow at the San Diego Cemetery

The family would like to extend their gratitude to many friends, family and Dr. Emil Salloum and the staff at the Cancer Center, Dr. Robert Vela, Legacy Hospice Care, the staff of Garza Funeral Home and Father Benito Retortillo.

She was a strong religious person, we know she's in Paradise.

San Diego-Jesse R. Perez, 63, passed away January 25, 2007 in a Corpus Christi hospital.

He was a native of San Diego, Texas and a graduate of San Diego High School. He served in the U.S. Army and a veteran of the Vietnam era. He was also a retired carpenter.

Special thank you to Spohn Shoreline Hospital ICU and La Hacienda nursing staff.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jesus "Chore" Perez; maternal grandparents, Santos and Antonio Perez; paternal grandparents, Isidro and Elena Perez.

Perez is survived by his ex-wife, Hermalinda Vasquez from Houston, Texas; two sons, Jesse Perez III and Sabino (Diana) Perez, both from Houston, Texas; one daughter, Debbie Ann (Arnie) Lara from Houston, Texas; his mother, Manuela R. Perez from San Diego, Texas; one brother, Richard R. (Norma) Perez from Corpus Christi, Texas; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2007 at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home of San Diego. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2007 at St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church and burial will follow at the San Diego Cemetery No. 2 with military graveside services by the VFW Post 8931.
