ALICE, Texas — Rogelio Davila, 72, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008 in a Corpus Christi hospital after a short illness. He was born on October 6, 1935 to Felipe and Dolores Davila in Cibolo Community of Duval County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Felipe and Dolores Davila; two brothers, Oscar and Robert Davila; and a son, Baldemar Davila.

Survivors include his wife, Genoveva Davila of Alice, Texas; sons, Rogelio (Anna) Davila, Joe Davila, Raul (Belinda) Davila, Juan (Ester) Davila and George (Rachel) Davila, all of Alice, Texas, and Omar (Lucero) Lichtenberger Jr. of Waxahachie, Texas; daughters, Dolores (Armando) Camarillo of San Diego, Texas, Maria Torres of Waxahachie, Texas, and Anna (Joe) Vasquez, Chris (Mickey) Gallegos and Gracie (Roy) Jones, all of Alice, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Irma Davila of Alice, Texas; brothers, Conrado (Santos) Davila of Alice, Texas, Adan (Amelia) Davila of San Antonio, Texas, and Ernesto (Lupe) Davila of Kingsville, Texas; sisters, Lile (Chuy) Quinones and Esperansa (Rey) Longoria, both of Ohio, Estella Trevino of San Diego, Texas, and Rosa Contreras of Alice, Texas; 33 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin on Thursday, April 10, 2008 at 8 a.m. in the Roberson Funeral Horne Chapel. A Rosary will be recited that evening at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 11, 2008 at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church of Alice, Texas. Burial will follow in the Roberson-Collins Memorial Cemetery.

AGUA DULCE - Mildred Opal Haynes, 90, passed away April 7, 2008 at St. Catherine Center Hospital in Waco, Texas. She was born October 11, 1917 in Concordia, Mo. She retired as a bookkeeper for Texas A&M Systems Office in Kingsville, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin R. and Anna Nee Hewitt; her loving husband, Stanley S. Haynes; grandson, William Tyler Haynes; and niece, Norma Jeanne Deshotel.

She is survived by her two sons, W.R. “Billy” Haynes (Elsie) of Mart and E.T. “Tommy” Haynes (Kathy) of Robstown; her daughter, Janet S. Harbison (Randy) of Sandia; three grandchildren, Jason E. Schuette (Michelle) of Corpus Christi, T.C. Haynes of Robstown and Theresa Bolton of San Antonio; three great-grandchildren, Kylee, Payton and Paige Schuette of Corpus Christi; and one cousin, Guy Deshotel of Lewisville.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday April 9, 2008 at Holmgreen Mortuary in Alice.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2008 at the Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel. The Rev. Betty Tuttle will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park in Alice.

Pallbearers will be Guy Deshotel, Jimmy McCain, T.C. Haynes, Francis Schuette, Otis Burroughs and Ralph Ochoa.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — God decided to call home one of his finest: Margaret Nugent, 85, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2008 at Vista Care Hospice-Trinity Towers. Margaret was born on July 28, 1922 in Agua Dulce, Texas, to J.C. and Francis Mrazek. She graduated from Agua Dulce High School and business college.

Margaret married October 19, 1951 in Kingsville, Texas. She worked as a bookkeeper and tax accountant at Allen Furniture in Kingsville; and at Chicago Corporation, Collier, Johnson and Woods, CPA, and Jackson Hewitt, all in Corpus Christi, Texas. She worked as a tax accountant until she was 82. Margaret was exceptionally selfless and didn’t want to be the center of attention. She loved all animals… it often was said ‘’that if someone was to return to earth as an animal, it should be one of Margaret’s dogs.” She was a great cook and could put together a feast but she always referred to it as the ‘’same ole thing.’’ She loved her chocolate. Margaret was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be dearly missed by all. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Elizabeth Keliehor, Josie Haydon and Shirley Brand; her brothers, Alvin Mrazek Sr. and JC ‘’Jake” Mrazek Jr.; and two nephews, Johnny Keliehor and Billie Keliehor.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Alex ‘’Al’’ W. Nugent; sons, Kenneth (Deborah) Nugent of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Keith (Terri) Nugent of San Antonio, Texas; granddaughters, Ashley Nugent of San Antonio, Texas, and Portia Adkins of Corpus Christi, Texas; grandsons: Christopher Adkins of Atlanta, Ga., and Sean Rush of Waco, Texas; great-granddaughter, Seja Anderson, of Corpus Christi, Texas; one sister, Jennie Lee Godfrey of Alice, Texas, and many, many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 from noon to 9 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 8200 Old Brownsville Road in Corpus Christi, with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. that evening. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
