Chapa, Guerra, Salinas, Soliz


Guillermo "Willie" McKenzie Chapa, 60, died, Saturday, January 20, 2007 in a Corpus Christi hospital after an illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilberto and Eva McKenzie Chapa and a sister, Lupita Guitz.

He is survived by two sons, Roel (Renee) Chapa of Orange Grove, Texas, and Raul (Eliza) Chapa of Alice, Texas; two daughters, Raquel (Les) Klemme of El Paso, Texas, and Sylvia (Michael) French of Dallas, Texas; a brother, Gilberto Chapa Jr. of Alice, Texas; and three sisters, Aurora Martinez and Berta Trevino, both of Alice, Texas, and Elida Saenz of Houston, Texas.

Prayer Service will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, January 25, 2007 at The Open Door Baptist Church in Alice, Texas.

SAN DIEGO - Emma Marie Guerra, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at the age of 59, She died at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Her family is deeply saddened by the suffering caused by her illness (Cancer). Her final day in this world was a peaceful one.

Emma was a graduate of San Diego High School. Soon after her graduation she moved to Washington D.C. where she worked for the F.B.I. Due to family hardship she was forced to move back home.

She worked for the District Clerk's office as the Chief Deputy for 27 years. She was also employed with Glory B Home Health and currently for St. Peters Home Health.

She leaves to cherish her memories her mother, Berta Barrera Guerra, her brother Donny (Patsy) Guerra III, her sisters, Josie Guerra, Anna Lisa (Peter) Barton, two nephews, Donny (Ruby) Guerra IV, Donny Guerra V, her nieces, Kassandra Guerra all of San Diego, Texas, nieces, Jo Anna and Saia Guerra and nephew, Santiago Guerra of San Francisco; her cousin whom she loved as a sister Greta (Pete) Guerra; her cousins Rene Rangel, Rachel Salinas and Sylvia Arriola all of San Diego, Texas,

Also, two dear friends Edna and Ninfa Lazo also of San Diego, Texas. Also, her aunt, Eleonor "Chata" Mendietta who helped as her caretaker.

She was preceded in death by her father Donaciano Guerra, Jr., her brother Gilberto Guerra, paternal grandparents, Donaciano, Sr. and Josefina Guerra, maternal grandparents Santiago and Tomasita Salinas Barrera.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday, January 25, 2007 at Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas. Vigil of deceased with rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. that same evening. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, Janauary 26, 2007 at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church in San Diego, Texas. Burial will follow at the San Diego Cemetery

The family would like to extend their gratitude to many friends, family and Dr. Emil Salloum and the staff at the Cancer Center, Dr. Robert Vela, Legacy Hospice Care, the staff of Garza Funeral Home and Father Benito Retortillo.

She was a strong religious person, we know she's in Paradise.

Benavides - Paula Salinas, 94, passed away January 23, 2007 in a Corpus Christi hospital. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Martimaino Salinas, and one son, Roberto Salinas.

Survivors include two sons, Ramon Salinas and Reymundo Salinas, both from Benavides, Texas; one daughter, Casimira S. Bazan from Freer, Texas; two brothers, Santos Garcia from Port Lavaca, Texas, and Eliseo Garcia from Corpus Christi, Texas; one sister, Cruz G. Rodriguez and numerous grandchildren.

Visitation was Thursday, January 25, 2007 at the Mauro P. Garcia Chapel in Benavides, Texas. Graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday at the Benavides Cemetery.

El Guajillo Community - Maria Del Refugia Soliz, 84, passed away January 24, 2007 in a Corpus Christi hospital. She was a native of El Guajillo Ranch and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt and sister. She will be sadly missed by all her family and friends.

She wsa preceded in death by her parents, Celestino and Aida Garcia Gonzalez; two sons, Theodoro and Roberto Garza; three grandsons, Israel Garza, Ruben Garza Jr. and Carlos Gonzalez Jr.; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Blanco and Mindy Soliz.

Survivors include her husband, Faustino H. Soliz Sr. from Corpus Christi; five sons, George (Hilda) Garza from Alice, Texas; Arnoldo (Diane) Garza from Robstown, Texas; Ruben (Sonia) Garza from Marshall, Texas; Oscar Soliz and Joel Soliz from Corpus Christi, Texas and one step son, Faustino (Rosa Sylvia) Soliz Jr. from San Diego, Texas; four daughters, San Juana (Carlos) Gonzalez from San Diego, Texas; Grace (Juan) De Los Santos and Baudelia (Richard) Blanco, both from Robstown, Texas and Ofelia (Juan) Lopez from Corpus Christi, Texas; three daughter-in-laws, Guadalupe Garza from Corpus Christi, Texas, Terry Nava from Sandia, Texas, Celia Garza from Poteet, Texas; one sister, Irene (Natividad) Pena from Andrews, Texas and a devoted special friend, Maria Garcia from Robstown, Texas and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Rosary will be recited Thursday, January 25, 2007 at 7 p.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Friday, January 26, 2007 at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church and burial will follow at the San Diego Cemetery No. 2.
