ORANGE GROVE - Henry R. Kraatz, 85, passed away February 2, 2007 in a Corpus Christi hospital. Kraatz was born November 10, 1921 in Orange Grove to Rudolph and Emiley Kraatz. He retired from the construction business and was a member of Faith Church UCC of Orange Grove. Kraatz was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Adolph Kraatz; and a sister, Edna Brand.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 4, 2007, from 1 to 9 p.m. at Holmgreen Mortuary in Alice. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, February 5, 2007 at the Faith Church UCC in Orange Grove. Burial will follow in Orange Grove Cemetery.

FREER, Texas - Loy Lewis, 71, a resident of Freer, Texas, for more than 30 years, died on Thursday, February 1, 2007 after a sudden illness. He served as deacon for the First Baptist Church and he was currently a deacon and a board member for Faith Christian Church in Freer, Texas.

He retired after 25 years of employment with National Oil Well. After a short retirement, he returned back to the workforce with Total Service Supply (TSS) where he enjoyed spending time with his co-workers. His passion was church, woodwork and spending time with his family.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Rose Lewis of Freer, Texas; his son Shane (Rhonda) Lewis of Denton, Texas; his daughter, Sonia (Scott) Halfmann of Highland Village, Texas; stepsons, Angel (Linda) Alaniz, Rudy Alaniz and Ruben (Gloria) Alaniz; stepdaughters, Lena (Jesus) Almendarez, all of Freer, Texas, Bernie (Ruben) Martinez of Corpus Christi, Texas, Kathy (Bobby) Guzman of Alice, Texas and Peggy (Nuno) Villarreal of Freer, Texas; his brother, Lee (Jo) Lewis of Avery, Texas; 15 grandchildren, Preston Lewis, Reece, Stanton and Emma Halfmann, Lynette and Lyndsey Alaniz, Bene and Jeremy Alaniz, Adam and Eric Almendarez, R.J. Martinez, Marcos and Mateo Guzman, Jonathan and Mariah Alaniz.

Visitation was held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2007 at the Garza Funeral Home in Freer, Texas, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. that same evening.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, February 4, 2007 at the Garza Funeral Home Chapel in Freer with Brother Joe Carrales officiating.

Burial will follow at the Hahl Memorial Cemetery in Freer, Texas.
