ALICE, Texas - Marie Goetzel, 84, passed away February 11, 2007 in an Alice nursing home. She was born April 14, 1922 in Kyle, Texas, to Henry and Nannie Goetzel. Miss Goetzel was a retired school teacher, a member of the Methodist Church and a member of the Teacher Retirement System. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Nannie Goetzel; one sister, Margie; and one brother, John.

Survivors include five sisters, Elaine Sowell of Alice, Joyce (George) Frank of Alice, Patsy Brundrett of San Antonio, Sue De La Cruz of Alice and Ann (Jesse) Leathers of Alice; one brother, Douglas (Mary) Goetzel of Alice; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Sandy Leach, whom Marie considered to be her daughter.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2006 at Holmgreen Mortuary. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday February 14, 2007 at the Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel in Alice. Burial will follow in the Alice Cemetery.

Schneider

ALICE, Texas - Doris Jean Wright Schneider, a long time resident of Alice, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 12, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born May 26, 1930 in Oneida, Tenn., to the late Clifford Winfield Wright and Sarah Louise Gosney Wright. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Gentry and Sue Sexton, and an infant brother, Charles Denton Wright.

Doris grow up in Oneida, Tenn., where her parents owned and operated the Scott County newspaper. She graduated from Tennessee Tech in 1951. Doris taught school for two years in Oneida and then moved to Alice for a teaching position in 1953. She was employed with the Alice Independent School District for 36 years before retiring. She spent her life devoted to her family and friends. Her good nature and sense of humor shone through in all that she did.

Doris is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Alfred E. Schneider; four children, Mark Schneider and wife, Icus of Jakarta, Indonesia; Keith Schneider and wife, Ronee of Spring, Texas; Glen Schneider and wife, Linnett of Austin; and Tim Schneider and wife, Jenny of Brashear, Texas; six grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Bear, Magnolia, Zara and Archer and numerous other relatives and close friends. Many thanks go to the staff of United Home Health Care of Alice and Vista Hospice of Corpus Christi for their gentle care and attention.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 13, 2007 from 3 to 9 p.m. at Holmgreen Mortuary.

A funeral service celebrating Doris' life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Alice with Diane Kiddy officiating. Interment will follow the service at Alice Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Matthew Schneider, Michael Schneider, Bear Schneider, James L. Rush, John Martin, Ernest Botard, Ruben Benavides and Clem Pierce.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of choice.

FALFURRIAS - Aradelia Vela, 50, passed away at a Corpus Christi hospital on February 11, 2007.

Survivors include her husband, Reynaldo Robledo of Falfurrias, Texas; one son, Alex Ray Robledo of Falfurrias; one daughter, Monica Pulido of Falfurrias; mother, Guadalupe Vela of Falfurrias; three brothers, Albert (Marie) Diaz of Alamogordo, N.M., Eddie (Gloria) Diaz of Alice, Texas, Ralph (Elisa) Vela of Falfurrias; one sister, Rosa (Robert) Gonzalez of Falfurrias; and four grandchildren.

A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2007, at Alaniz Funeral Home in Falfurrias, Texas.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias. Burial will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Falfurrias, Texas.
