Velda “Sissy” Collins passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2016, surrounded by her family. She was born September 10, 1936 in Freer, Texas to Helen and Horace Millard.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She was a member of the V.F.W. Women’s Auxiliary. She had a character about her.
Sissy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ray Collins, her son-in-law, Everett Brieden, two brothers, Horace Millard Jr. and Harold Millard, and her sister, Bobbie Hogan.
She is survived by her four children, Pam (Bill) Ezell of Adams, Oregon, Vicki (Ned) Brieden of Orange Grove, Texas, Darrell (Bobbi) Holland of Brownsville, Texas, and Helen Brieden of Orange Grove, Texas; one brother, Hollis (Florence) Millard of Victoria, Texas; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Holmgreen Mortuary. Graveside Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Alice Cemetery.
