Memorial Services for Willie D. Jones, 77, of Indianapolis, Indiana, formerly of Robstown, Texas, will be Sunday, October 30, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Burrell Chapel Baptist Church, 190 Burrell Chapel, off of Highway 35 (Bailey’s Chapel Community).

Interment will be in Peaceful Rest Cemetery in Brazoria, Texas.

He passed away on September 9, 2016 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

On August 20, 1939, Willie Douglas was born to Wille and Gesna Gertrude Jones. He attended elementary school in Robstown school district, high school at Solomon Cole in Corpus Christi and graduated from Robstown High School (Cotton Pickers) in 1956. He received a scholarship to Purdue University and graduated with a degree in Business Administration. Football was a great part of his life – playing for the Buffalo Bills. He was featured in the Indianapolis Monthly in October 2007. 

He married the love of his life Dorothy Cain. They were married 41 years until her death. His interests included: NFL Players Association, Indiana Black Expo, Indy 500, Inner City Football H.L. Teams and was a great supporter of Rock Hardy Boxing (the people with Parkinson’s Disease).

He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Left to emulate his life, Aunt, Georgia Mae Granville of Bailey’s Prairie; step-son, David Cain of Las Vegas, Nevada; the family who provided a second home, the Traylor’s family of Evansville, Indiana and a host of other relatives and friends. He loved people and will be greatly missed.
