A man was stabbed five times Saturday and told police five men approached him and stabbed him while he was sitting on his porch in the 600 block of Loma Street, police said.
Police interviewed the victim, Octavio Lopez, at CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Alice. He told police five Hispanic individuals at about 9 p.m. were in a gold Pontiac Grand Am when they pulled up to his residence and got out of the car with knives in their hands. Lopez said in the report he tried to fight them off, but he got stabbed five times, once in the chest, three times under his left arm, once in his right calf and was slashed on his right cheek.
The individuals then went back to their vehicle and fled the scene, according to a police report.
Lopez told police he was on an 48-hour pass from a halfway house in Corpus Christi and said he didn't know the suspects and couldn't give any descriptions.
