A San Diego man was arrested at a convenience store on Highway 44 and Beam Station Road about noon Thursday on a warrant.
Federico Juarez, 32, known as “Kiko,” of San Diego, was handcuffed in the parking lot of the store after police spotted him on Highway 44 and Beam Station Road. He was wanted for a warrant on an aggravated sexual assault of a child.
The alleged rape happened in 2009 in a residence in the 700 block of N. Aransas Street, according to a police report. Police said the female victim was 14 years old at the time of the aggravated sexual assault.
“The good thing about this is the investigators put the case together with the DNA,” said Police Chief Daniel Bueno. “We have sufficient evidence to get a warrant for his arrest.”
Juarez had not been magistrated as of Thursday evening, jail official said. Juarez also had a warrant for two counts of burglary of a building.
“This is a good thing,” Bueno said, “the arrest.”
